The TCRT5000L infrared (IR) reflective optical sensor is a device that is used to detect the presence or absence of objects. It consists of an IR LED (light emitting diode) and a phototransistor that are mounted on a small PCB (printed circuit board). When the IR LED is activated, it emits a beam of IR light that is reflected off of nearby objects. The reflected IR light is then detected by the phototransistor, which generates an electrical signal in response. The electrical signal is then used to indicate the presence or absence of an object. The TCRT5000L is often used in applications where it is necessary to detect the presence or absence of objects in a particular area, such as in robotics, automation, and security systems.
Use the TCRT5000L to determine distance or obstacles. The TCRT5000L is commonly used with Line-Following Robots and general close-range object counters.
