In a collaboration within the mining industry, our client needed a precise GPS beacon capable of operating in remote, internet-disconnected areas to capture telemetric data during explosive blasts. This involved measuring displacement from the beacon's pre-explosion position to its post-explosion location, even when buried beneath debris. Our solution was a custom-designed device housed in a protective carbon fiber enclosure, equipped with an RF transceiver for transmitting GPS data to a central receiver. This receiver, linked to a computer running a dedicated app, gathered and organized telemetric data from multiple beacons within range, storing it in Excel format for detailed analysis.
